In April we welcomed Megan Eley as T47’s newest Account Executive. Based from our Newport office in South Wales, we asked Megan to introduce herself in her own words:
My name is Megan and I’m excited to be joining the team at Thirty4/7 Communications as an Account Executive. I’m new to communications (in fact, I’m new to post-university employment in general) and renewable energy, but I’m really looking forward to exploring this industry.
I’ve recently completed my MSc. in Politics and Public Policy at Cardiff University. This followed an undergraduate degree in PPE at Swansea University and an internship in the Senedd, where I developed numerous skills through interacting with constituents, stakeholders, and policy experts. These experiences fostered a great love for politics, but I’m particularly passionate about devolution, political engagement, and public policy.
As a part of my MSc., I completed a 15,000-word dissertation on the three main state-wide parties’ opposition to Welsh independence. Using discourse analysis, I dissected the parties’ rhetoric to discern 2 things: (1) their justification for their opposition to independence; (2) whether there was a coherent and unified pro-union coalition. My dissertation concluded that, whilst the parties’ reasonings sometimes overlapped, there is not a pro-union coalition, and each party has a different understanding of what are the ideal Welsh constitutional arrangements.
I live in South Wales with my family, including two dogs, a herd of cats, and a tortoise. In my spare time, I am an avid reader, and I enjoy long walks – particularly ones in or around cultural and historical sites. I’m also a big music lover and I really enjoy attending live concerts.
I’m really looking forward to contributing to the team here at Thirty4/7 and I’m excited to dive into the projects ahead, with an aim to promote sustainability and climate conscious action.
