George’s first week with Thirty4/7

It’s been just over a week since George Heal has joined the team at Thirty4/7 Communications and we thought what better way to introduce him to than by sitting him down and asking him to write about himself. Here’s an introduction to  George and his first few days:

About me –

Born and raised in the South West of England, I went to school and college in Somerset, then graduated from Bournemouth University in 2019 with a degree in Multimedia Journalism. I have always been interested in public affairs and keeping up to date with the latest news. After university, I went to work at Longleat Safari Park to try out communications and engagement, which was so much fun, I love animals and I’m passionate about conservation, it was a great experience.

Then in January 2021, I started as an Account Executive at a communications agency where I assisted delivery of a variety of engagement and communications work for a variety of sectors and clients. Ranging from residential developments, cable installation projects, city regeneration, a smart campus Land Development Order and delivering communications and social media workshops.

I was promoted to Senior Account Executive in November 2021, with more responsibilities and starting to take leadership of tasks and projects. I look forward to expanding on these skills and my experiences to be able to deliver great communications and engagement for Thirty4/7.

I am a music lover and a regular festival and gig attendee, being from the South West, Glastonbury Festival is my second home. I spend the rest of my time reading, watching sports, and trying to find the best food in Bristol.

How was your first week?

It was a strange time to join a new role after last Monday’s historic events, but it was a fantastic first week. From the welcome package to meeting the team, it has been a lovely experience – everyone is passionate about what they do, and you can’t help but feel inspired by that.

There has been a lot of information to take on board, especially on renewable energy. Like most people, I know about renewable energies at a surface level, but it’s really interesting learning so much more about the detail and the challenges that renewable energy and infrastructure can tackle, and I am excited to be communicating that.

What has surprised/challenged you in your new role?

One thing that has surprised me is how much I need to work on my Welsh pronunciations! In all seriousness, this is an exciting journey for me having worked in engagement and communications and I am ready for this new challenge, including new pronunciations and learning about new technologies and sectors.

What sort of projects are you working on?

There is a good variety of projects that I am excited to get working on, including wind and solar farms consultations, as well as assisting the team with ongoing engagement with world leading innovative and regenerative projects.

Considering the climate that we live in, I am inspired and driven to be focusing my work in the renewable energy sector. It is a cause that I am passionate about, and I am proud to be a part of some change in helping reach climate goals.

What excited you about the next few weeks/months?

It’s an exciting time to be joining the team as there are a lot of interesting projects getting underway and currently ongoing. I am looking forward to continue getting to know the team and working alongside them.

I am also excited to just get stuck into these projects, learning more about renewable energy and the important part that it plays in the future of reaching climate goals. As well as visiting areas and travelling to consultation events.
