Hi everyone, I’m Poppy and I’m very excited to be joining the team at Thirty 4/7 Communications as an intern. I am currently doing a Master’s degree in English at the University of Exeter, where I also studied my undergraduate degree.
In my free time, I am an avid reader, with a particular interest in Early Modern Literature and historical non-fiction, and I enjoy skiing and playing hockey and netball. I am looking forward to applying the skills that I’ve developed at university to my work at Thirty 4/7. Throughout my coursework and assignments, I have gained strong research and analysis skills, alongside clear and effective communication skills, that will be beneficial to my work as an intern.
While at university, I have been heavily involved in societies and, in my final year of undergraduate, I was both Events Coordinator for Snowsports Exeter and Social Media Manager of Period Poverty Exeter. As Events Coordinator, I was responsible for organising regular events with over 1000 attendees. This role involved liaising with venue owners, DJs and event partners, as well as working closely with the publicity and media secretaries to effectively promote events and sponsors. Additionally, as Social Media Manager, I created online content to promote fundraisers and raise awareness for period poverty. This experience has improved my ability to engage with audiences, creating meaningful change, which I hope to develop further while working on the community engagement aspects of my role as an intern.
I am excited to apply and develop my current skills during work on renewable energy and infrastructure projects. As an intern at Thirty 4/7, I hope to make a positive impact on the work taking place and also contribute towards the creation of a greener future. I am looking forward to learning from the wider team that I will be working with, while gaining a greater insight into the role which communications, consultation and public relations can play in supporting the journey to net zero.
